King of the East

Local Chapter | Bogor To enhance the students skills in Survey and Mapping, community members from the Local Chapter | Bogor (Adi Sanggoro Vocational School) spent around 6 weeks doing field data collection of house numbers in Jakarta. With their extensive background in survey and mapping, this field activity was definitely not a new thing for our 4 musketeers Wiwit, Tanti, Naufal, and Rizki. (Remember our 2 brave guys who conquered the biggest textile market in SEA?) Understanding the Market With 28 million people in the metropolitan area, 6 satellite cities, and nearly 10 million vehicles in daily use, Jakarta is nominated as one of the biggest city in the world. Therefore preparation to define the scope of work was needed to ensure they address the collection in the important area from a user perspective. From the HERE Jakarta office, the duo Risdianto Ade Rubi and Iqbal Dharmaputra also played a significant role to identify the correct area and regularly monitor the activities on a daily basis. The HERE Helmet Preparation become imperfect without good execution, and execution will not reach it’s optimal without good equipment. Introducing the HERE Helmet – the helmet looks like an ordinary motorbike helmet, but if we looked closer, the HERE Helmet uses the “Contour Action Camera" to help us record all the house numbers and point of interest during the collection. By using this special helmet, we can improved the capability, efficiency, speed, and quality of the collection particularly during the collection and post collection step. Action speaks louder than words. Up to date, we have collected 4,000+ new point address and updated it into HERE Map Creator. Good Job Guys!

HERE Explores the Outdoors!

It is truly amazing to see that the HERE Expert Community Program in the Philippines has grown to include so many interesting individuals over the course of a few years. Members come from such diverse backgrounds and age groups. From students to government officials to developers, the HERE Expert Community Program members share the same drive – that is, to share their knowledge and create the best map of the country! Miko Santos is one of these individuals. A mobile developer and an avid mountaineer, Miko is one of HERE Philippines’ leading community members in terms of outdoor mapping since July of this year. With about 21 mountains and over 300 KM of hiking trails added in Map Creator, he has shown what it means to be a HERE Explorer! Taking his love for the outdoors and his passion for mapping, he has also created PH Mountains - a comprehensive guide app (available on iOS and Android) to the multitude of mountains in the Philippines. Users of PH Mountains can search for mountains and photos, organize their trips, check the weather, cross off their climbing goals with a personal mountain checklist, and search for the nearest outdoor stores to buy gear for that next climb.
