60 Developers, 15 Hours of coding for 16 Great Windows Phone Application

We had many developers coming down to the Microsoft Singapore venue to compete in the Nokia X-Calibre Hackathon conducted by Nokia Singapore on 19 November 2011. Everyone is busy coding and polishing our their best Windows Phone 7 Application for the competition within a short period of 15 hours. They were all working on application for the Windows Phone 7.5 (code-named “Mango”) using the 7.1 SDK. In the Microsoft Singapore venue, we had 4 Windows Phone 7 Champs assisting the competitors to answer technical and design issues during the competition. 3 of those Windows Phone 7 Champs are also Microsoft Student Partners - Kin Seng, Kim and myself. 200 youths came together to get inspired to change their ideas into actions

Last Saturday, it had been a happening weekend at Microsoft Singapore. The Microsoft Student Partners hosted yet another great event organised by youth for youth - TEDx Youth @ Singapore in the Microsoft Auditorium. Students from different walks of life from Secondary Schools to Universities coming down together to hear from numerous speakers to share their knowledge and thoughts all revolving around the theme for this year’s conference - IDEA + ACTION. This year’s conference had aim to let students be able to explore and express how youths today see things and do things in their own special way. Over 1,000 students attended techfest @ Singapore Polytechnic

On 9th November 2011, Microsoft Student Partners (MSP) have organised another awesome event – techfest @ Singapore Polytechnic. Making this the 1st ever Microsoft Techfest for IHLs in Singapore. In this event, we have over 1,000 students in Singapore Polytechnic attended and hear various representive from Microsoft. The team of MSPs decided to go all out on marketing effort from having posters with all around the school to distributing balloons at all the Food courts in Singapore Polytechnic. The entire school was filled with posters and balloon in lecture halls, walkways – practically any spot that you could think off! Students are also treated with music from Deejays, Kinects try-out, popcorn, candy floss etc. It’s just impossible to write those excitement and passion we felt on that day in words! ...
