Local Chapter | Jakarta
In Jogjakarta, we have our University partner coming from the Islamic State University – Sunan Kalijaga whilst in Jakarta, we have our partner from the Geography Department from the University of Indonesia.
Gone in 60 Minutes
The Geography Department, University of Indonesia has been part of HERE Indonesia Expert Community Program since early 2014. They have been extremely important supporting HERE to moderate/endorse the Point of Interest (POI) data that was contributed by other community members. This September, the students volunteers were tasked with a special mission.
Mission ‘Gone in 60 minutes’ where the team has only an hour to collect all the POIs efficiently inside the business facilities building without disturbing the office activities and comprising the security protocol.
Gearing up
As with the POI collection in other local chapter activities, every collection needs preparation. Having a good equipment is not only a prerequisite for collecting POI inside a business facility, but it also requires the collector to possess good soft skills and excellent time management.
The strategy which the students had adopted was to first check the tenant directory, collect the business facility in each floor and record down all the others public facilities. To support this acitivity, the HERE Indonesia team issued the students the Community Priority Card (CPC) as an identification, community flyers and reference letter. All these resources are to equip the students and to better help them answer any questions should they be stopped and questioned by the tenants
Do it Right Or Don’t Do it At All!
That’s the motto of the Local Chapter for Jakarta for the ‘Gone in 60 minutes’ mission. Prior to the collection, the students also conducted some research about the operating hours of each office building so that they would know which building to start their collection first. After more than a week of collection, the students have collected 1,000+ POIs from 50 buildings in the Jakarta Central Business District, and up to date, our student volunteers from the Local Chapter: Jakarta – University of Indonesia are still doing the collection of the business facility POI.
Good luck guys!!
