Oh no! What’s happening to our site?
UPDATE: Thankfully, we were able to restore our site from a recent backup. However we were able to get a screen capture of the site before it was compromised. Phew! Glad everything is finally back to normal.
UPDATE 2: It seems that the Internet Archive was also able to get a snapshot of our site before we restored it. Check it out at the link below:

Security is no joke, people. I’m going to make sure that I install the free Microsoft Security Essentials on all of my PCs from now on… 🙂
UPDATE 3: For those who haven’t figured it out yet – no, we have not been hacked. Don’t worry, the Windows Server 2008 box that is hosting this blog is safe and sound. 🙂
Anyway, I hope hackers today have better taste than to deface websites with Geocities-like colors and buttons.
To get your own defaced website, try out the Geocities-izer, created by WONDER-TONIC.

somehow I don't trust the security level of Win server.. Linux always give ppl the impression it's more secure, robust and stable than MS stuff. I really wonder, who are the major users of Windows Server in the world. Is Windows Server really used for mission critical environment like stock trading, nuclear power plant management?

Hi John – Thanks for your comment.
You are absolutely right in one thing – that is that it's only an impression that Linux is more secure, robust, and stable than Windows.
Windows Server is used by thousands of customers in the world to serve mission critical applications. Many of the large SAP deployments in the world today run on Windows Server. In Singapore, CPF's core systems have been running Windows Server for over 12 years!
Please feel free to browse through some of our case studies for Windows Server used in the Financial Services industry.
Or how about some case studies on Windows Server being used in the Power Utilities industry?
If you have time, you are invited to take a look at how Windows Server compares with other server operating systems:
