Map Master Local Chapter
Ever since the Map Master Local Chapter program in Indonesia kicked off in May 2015, the HERE Indonesia Community Team has seen significant contribution from each local chapter month after month. In just over a period of 3 months, the local chapters have grown from 6 cities to the current 10 with majority of the cities emerging from Aceh (the northwestern city of Indonesia) and Lombok island. This, in addition to the local flash mob campaigns they have rolled out, it is therefore not surprising that the HERE Indonesia Community team has received many requests from groups, organizations and institutions to be part of the local chapter.
Goals of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)
The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is the goal of regional economic integration by 2015. AEC envisages the following key characteristics: (a) a single market and production base, (b) a highly competitive economic region, (c) a region of equitable economic development, and (d) a region fully integrated into the global economy. As the AEC’s December 2015 deadline approaches, vocational schools will be on top of the educational chain to spearhead and provide highly trained human resources. And to ensure that all the students are ready for integration into the working society upon graduation, vocational schools are seeing the need to partner with companies to help enrich the skills and mindset of their students.
Interest from Adi Sanggoro Vocational School
Adi Sanggoro is one of the Vocational School who has requested to be part of the local chapter in Bogor since May 2015. One of the reasons they cited in wanting to join the local chapter is that apart from offering majors in Mechatronic, Mining Geology, and Informatics; the school also specialize in Survey and Mapping. Going into a partnership with HERE is a mutual benefit for both parties particularly with HERE’s focus on location based and services.
Induction Program
Starting from June 2015, we have seen a few students from Adi Sanggoro joining the HERE Indonesia Expert Community Program and also becoming part of the Bogor Local Chapter. One of their biggest achievement was to help collect point address in Jakarta area and also travel mapping in Tanah Abang Market (refer to ‘The Giant POI’ story).
To expand and further enhance and improve the community partnership, the HERE Indonesia Community team conducted a series of induction program for the new community members from Adi Sanggoro. We are pleased to share that the HERE Expert Community Program is now part of the school’s extra-curricular and going forward, the team will be holding regular roundtable and talks on the community program in the school.
