Today, we are excited to recognize the following Malaysia Map Masters for their remarkable contributions to the HERE Expert Community!

MEGAT NAJIB | Contributions: Road Geometry, Point of Interest
A final year Geomatic student at UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor, Megat Najib first got to know about the Map Creator during the HERE roadshow to UiTM Shah Alam on November 2014. He was impressed with how little local knowledge can be shared to help other and provide accurate navigation experiences.
Having joined the HERE Expert Community since November 2014, Megat was the second runner up for the Map Creator Competition in conjunction with National Geomatic and Geoinfomatic Students Innovation Competition (NGSSIC) 2014.

OMAR FAROUQ | Contributions: Road Geometry, Point of Interest
Based in Klang Valley, Omar Farouq has been a HERE Malaysia Expert Community member since November 2014. He was the first runner up winner for the National Geomatic & Geoinfomatic Students Innovation Competition (NGGSIC) 2014 and enjoys doing map editing in Map Creator as he finds that it is a simple tool with powerful functionalities.

TIONG HUA SANG | Contributions: Point of Interest, Point Address, Road Geometry
Politeknik Kuching GIS lecturer Tiong Hua Sang has been a Malaysia HERE Expert Community Program pioneer member since January 2014. Currently residing in Kuching, Sarawak, Hua Sang enjoys playing ball games like badminton and volleyball to keep fit. Colleague’s to Map Master Siow Juen, he believes in empowering his students with GPX mobile collection for Map creator editing purpose.
Quipped Hua Sang, “I love travelling to places, and my travel isn’t complete if I did not map the places I visited in Map Creator. It’s amazing how Map Creator makes you feel that it is part of your life journey and you feel the ‘belonging’ whenever you see and use it for navigation from one places to another!”

PANG SIOW JUEN | Contributions: Point of Interest, Point Address, Road Geometry
Politeknik Kuching GIS Lecturer Siow Juen has been a Malaysia HERE Expert Community Program pioneer member since January 2014. Born in Air Tawar, Perak and currently residing in Kuching Sarawak, Siow Juen is a mother to two lovely daughters. She spends her leisure time with her family, likes to play badminton and enjoys a good swim.
Siow Juen was also the winner for the SEA Best Practice Award Nomination where she proposed the paper plot method of collection and empowered her students on the HERE Map Creator editing with this approach.
“I am glad to be one of Malaysia Map Creator contributor, this is a place for me to continue on mapping lifelong learning! Truly that’s HERE, its Maps for Life!” shared Siow Juen.

MOOK JIA JUN | Contributions: Road Geometry, Point of Interest
Based in Ipoh, Perak, Geomatic student Mook Jia Jun from Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah (PTSB) in Kulim, Kedah joined the HERE Malaysia Expert Community in March 2015. Jia Jun was also a winner of the PTSB Map Creator Challenge! During his free time, Jia Jun likes to play badminton and spends his time in the kitchen trying out new recipes! A Map Master and Chef in the making!!
Shared Jia Jun, “I am truly honored to be awarded with the HERE Map Master title! It’s one of my life achievement! I love the HERE Expert community program because it gives me the opportunity to get to know community members from other southeast Asia country. Well, not only that I mapped places around my neighborhood area and places that I visited, but with Map Creator, I am able to discover new places I never thought this would exist, it’s amazing! The world has a lot of secrets, some I have found in HERE.”
