Annoucing Windows Server 2012 Early Experts Study Group: Singapore by Richard Qi

Announcing the Early Experts Study Group for Singapore!

Building on the efforts of the Early Experts group currently running in LinkedIn, the Singapore Windows User Group will be running a series of sessions and blog posts to help you prepare for your Windows Server 2012 exams.

The series will focus on helping you achieve the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification. The content will be relevant to both those taking the individual exams in the track and to those who are upgrading their 2008 Certifications.
Two community leader for this study group are Matt, Sainath and Tianxiang

Why are we doing this?

Windows Server 2012 presents a significant change from previous versions and a new set of skills for It Pros to master, these changes also bring a new set of Microsoft Certifications. We recognise the importance of maintaining your skill set and certification to remain relevant in the marketplace. The information that can be found online and in the various book releases can often be overwhelming, the Singapore Windows User Group are your local resource to help cut through to what’s relevant, help you grasp the concepts that may be difficult in self study and give you a voice of experience if you are new to the Microsoft Certification process.

So how does it work?

The content produced by the Singapore Windows User group will build on that provided by the LinkedIn Early Experts program, providing additional information on the topics you will be tested on, advice on how to prepare for the exams and the personal experiences of Matt Hitchcock and Tianxiang Chua as we go through the same certification process. We will present study sessions at the group meets, in addition to posting regular blog articles related to each subject on the exam and additional resources you can use for your study.

So what do I do now?

You can start working towards your certification by doing the following:

  • Join the LinkedIn Group for Early Experts and Work your way through the knowledge quests

  • Join the SWUG Facebook group and feel free to start a discussion on any of the content you are working through, this includes any any questions you have

  • We invite you to follow Matt and Tianxiang on twitter

  • Add the blogs to your RSS readers

  • Attend the SWUG meets, where we will go through each subject area related to the exam and fill in any gaps in your knowledge

  • Most importantly, self study.  While we aim to help you towards your certification as much as we can, we won’t be giving you all of the answers you need to pass the exams.  The sessions, posts and community meets should be considered as supplementary to your own study and more like a recap group.  They do not replace the need for your own self study and/or formal training

We invite you to go through the resources, follow the links, blogs and twitter feeds and of course, get involved with the group. We look forward to seeing you at the sessions.
