Students: How to Join DreamSpark for Free Dev Tools (Singapore) by Jason Chee

If you’re a student in Singapore (or anywhere, really) at a recognized educational institute (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary) you’re eligible for Microsoft DreamSpark where you can get free development tools and software.

At DreamSpark, you’ll be able to explore programming through tools such as Visual Studio and SQL Server and take advantage of subscriptions such as Windows Store Developer Accounts and the recently released Azure offer for students.

Here’s how to join:

1. Visit DreamSpark and click “Students”

2. Create an Account at the bottom of the page

3. Sign in with your Microsoft Account (@outlook/hotmail/live/msn.com – register for one if necessary)

4. Enter your account information

5. Perform verification and follow instructions in email

“I can supply documentation”

  • All other schools – submit one or more of the following: Student ID, current progress report, current dated class schedule, or acceptance letter

6. Access the Software Catalog and App Development pages to check our your new free tools!

DreamSpark Premium

Your school may have also signed up for DreamSpark Premium, an extended range of product offerings compared to the normal DreamSpark. This includes a variety of products such as Office 2013, Windows and other non-Microsoft products like Adobe CC.
