Each half is an hour long and offers a variety of different scenarios and demos that will provide you with an introductory overview to search and the role it plays in attracting and winning you new audiences.

Part 1 of the module gives an introduction to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), its role in the online world and the ways in which it has been growing. SEO is about improving usability on a website. It is the organic process of improving a website to make it more relevant to searchers and search engines.

Some questions that will be answered in the first half include:

  • What is SEO?
  • How has search evolved on the semantic web?
  • What is Keyword Research and how can I perform it?
  • How can I use my Social Networks to improve SEO?
  • What major areas should I invest in for great SEO? –a checklist of 6 areas is provided
  • Where does SEO fit in? – understanding that SEO is not a silver bullet
  • How can I perform SEO for mobile platforms?
  • Do meta-links and tags still work?

Part 2 of the module looks into building brands and in using search advertising (paid) via Search Engine Marketing. SEM is the optimization piece of SEO. It will cover SEM terminologies, Bing Ads essentials and provide resources for further exploration.

Some questions that will be answered in the 2nd half include:

  • What are hooks and how can I use them to engage my audience?
  • How do I leverage SEO for branding and for building value to my business?
  • What is conversion optimization and how can I achieve it?
  • What is Search Engine Marketing? – terminologies: PPC, CPC, CTR, CPA
  • What are the advantages of SEM?
  • How does Bing Ads differ from Google AdSense?
  • How can I use the Bing Webmaster Toolkit for business intelligence?
  • What are the kinds of support and resources that Bing offers?
